We believe in bold, transformative change to address the pressing issues facing our community and country. As we approach the General Election, we are confident that with your support, we can elect at least four Green MPs to Parliament. This is not just a number; it’s a significant step towards ensuring that the next government, likely led by Labour, takes the ambitious actions necessary to truly get our country back on track.
Our Green MPs will bring credible, practical solutions to Parliament, addressing the everyday challenges that people face. While it is expected that Labour will form the next government, we foresee a tendency to avoid the substantial changes required. That’s why it’s crucial to elect Green MPs who will push for more than just minor adjustments. We need serious change to undo the damage of the past and set a course for a fairer, more sustainable future.
By voting for the Green Party, you are leading the way towards a brighter future. You have the power to send a message to Westminster that our community demands real, impactful change. Use your vote to elect a Green MP who will work tirelessly to bring hope, fairness, and practical solutions to the forefront of our national conversation.
The section below introduces our candidate for the position of Havant MP, Netty Shepherd. Learn more about her, her commitment to our community and vision for a better future. Additionally, you can read our comprehensive manifesto, which outlines our policies and plans to bring about the real change we all need.
Join us in this mission with confidence and compassion. Voting Green on 4th July is your way of showing you believe a fairer, greener world is possible – and is worth fighting for.
Our Candidate

Netty Shepherd was born in Havant and is proud of her local roots. After university she began a successful international IT career at IBM North Harbour in Portsmouth and moved to Hayling Island to bring up her family. Netty has lived on Hayling Island for the past 30 years and is now a small business owner running a community-based content creation studio in Southsea. She has 2 children who schools on Hayling Island and is a committee member of Mengham Infant School PTA.
Netty is passionate about the environment in Hampshire and has been campaigning for the last 5 years to improve the biodiversity of the local area. In May 2024 Netty was elected as member of Havant Borough Council and serves as councillor with responsibility for Climate, Coastal and Open Spaces in the new three-way coalition between the Greens, Liberal Democrats and Labour.
Like so many people Netty is concerned about the sewage spills on local beaches. As a councillor Netty is keen to improve local services in Havant, but it is very clear to her that the funding cuts to local government mean difficult choices must be made. Young people and families are unable to find affordable housing in the area, it’s impossible to find an NHS dentist and people are being asked to use their hard-earned savings to pay for private operations or face a 2-year waiting list on the NHS. Only an MP can address these problems and that is why Netty is standing in the General Election. Netty believes we need an MP that really understands the issues her community faces and is determined to do something about it. We need investment in our local infrastructure, homes that are affordable to rent and run, same day appointments for GPs, NHS dentists and an end to untreated sewage spills into harbours.
Netty is also campaigning to raise awareness of Southern Water’s Recycled Water and Transfer scheme. This scheme, which is aims to solve the issue of water scarcity across Hampshire, will treat recycled sewage effluent using the reverse osmosis technique and transform it into drinking water for Southern Water customers. This water will be pumped across the South Downs from Havant to the Otterbourne treatment works, potentially making it the most expensive drinking water in the country. Netty believes that this £1.6 billion project is fundamentally flawed and there are far better, cheaper options available that Southern Water is not investigating.
